Publishing of the First Croatian Aleksandrida
Aleksandrida, the Croatian version of the work portraying the adventures of Alexander the Great, is one of the few works in prose in the Croatian medieval secular literature distinguished by its literary value, content, later impact and reception. The poetics and the style of this work originating from the Hellenistic tradition are characterised by typical features of medieval court literature and chivalric novel written first and foremost for the pleasure of its readership.
Aleksandrida by Matrix Croatica was prepared according to the so-called “Manuscript of Derečkaj” of the early 17th century and represents an integrated Latin transcription of that work prepared for the printed edition by Eduard Hercigonja and Marija-Ana Dürrigl.
