Head of the Scientific Centre of Excellence for Croatian Glagolitism Milan Mihaljević, PhD wins “Aldolfo Veber Tkalčević” Award
On 7th May 2015 at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Head of the Scientific Centre of Excellence for Croatian Glagolitism Milan Mihaljević, PhD, an associate member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, received the “Adolfo Veber Tkalčević” Award for his contribution to Croatian linguistics in the area of syntax of the Church Slavonic and Croatian language. This award is given on regular basis to distinguished linguists during the Croatian Syntactic Days, an international scientific conference held biannually in Osijek. Milan Mihaljević, PhD is the fourth laureate of the award received to date by academician Radoslav Katičić, Prof. Ivo Pranjković, PhD and Professor Emeritus Josip Silić.
The research adviser of the Old Church Slavonic Institute, Milan Mihaljević, PhD, is an author of a large number of papers on Church Slavonic and standard Croatian language, as well as of studies into Slavic comparative grammar. Last year his research was marked by two major publications: author’s book Slavenska poredbena gramatika: II. Morfologija, prozodija, slavenska pradomovina (2014) and a book written by a group of authors Hrvatski crkvenoslavenski jezik (2014). Milan Mihaljević, PhD prepared the first grammar of the Croatian redaction of Church Slavonic, for which he wrote a number of chapters together with other associates, largely members of the Scientific Centre of Excellence.
This year the 5th Croatian Syntactic Days were organised by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek and the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics. In addition to laureate Milan Mihaljević, PhD, two members of the Scientific Centre of Excellence also participated in the scientific conference giving their talks: Jasna Vince, PhD and Ana Kovačević, PhD.
